Avantgarde, Theatre, and Everything Else
On 18 March, during the 23rd Festival, a seminar „Avantgarde, Theatre, and Everything Else” took place on the Small Stage of Powszechny Theatre. During the seminar which lasted for almost 3 hours artists and scholars talked about avantgarde in the context of latest artistic trends from the field of widely understood progressive, radical visual arts.
The seminar participants:
- Ms Annie Abrahams (living in France), a Dutch performance artist creating her projects on the Internet;
- Mr Grzegorz Laszuk, leader of alternative theatre group Komuna Otwock, nowadays – Komuna/Warsaw which joins the avangarde experiment with the social interest;
- Ms Izabella Pluta, who works in Switzerland and in France, does a research work on how the modern theatre is transformed under the influence of new media;
- Ms Ewa Wojtowicz, the author of books about art on the Internet and the latest artistic post-media trends.
Mr Ryszard W. Kluszczyński was a moderator of the discussion. Professor Kluszczyński is a researcher on the contemporary art, in particular new media art. He is the author of numerous books and curator of exhibitions presenting the latest avantgarde artistic tendencies.
