Hotel „Minister”

Why do we love comedies and farces? Because they give us the opportunity to have joy and to laugh unconditionally. And – as Louis de Funes once said – laughter is as necessary for the soul as is oxygen for lungs. And the audience reactions during our two performances of „Hotel Minister” (Saturday preview and Sunday) proved this opinion to be true. And the play will be – according to the opinions of our guests as well as critics – another hit of Powszechny Theatre.

„Hotel Minister” by Ray Cooney was directed by Giovanny Castellanos. Deputy minister Ryszard Wolski is staying at the Minister Hotel with his wife. He came to take part in the parliamentary session. But he is more interested in planning to seduce Joanna, one of the PM’s secretaries. So he asks his private aide Dobiesław Ryski to book a hotel room under an assumed name for Wolski to meet his mistress. Eventually Ryski makes a series of disastrous mistakes and extreme and unexpected and funny complications ensue.

The „Hotel Minister” preview took place on Saturday, 11 October – the evening when Polish national football team beat Germany in Euro 2016 qualifying match. That is why many our important guests visited Powszechny Theatre on Sunday. After the Sunday performance Mr Cezary Grabarczyk, Minister of Justice, presented the actors with a big flower basket.

Thank you very much for your presence in our Theatre!
