Huge success of „Winter Trip” at the Open’er Festival

On July 2, 3, 4 and 5 we presented „Winter Trip” at the Open’er Festival in the „Theatre at the Open’er” project. In the public opinion this year’s edition is the best edition of the Gdynia Festival so far.

Crowds of spectators, more than full houses, ovations – they all proved that (contrary to some opinions) the theatre that requires involvement from the audience can take an important place at an international music festival. It was proved not only by spectators but by the choice of the performances that need special attention as well – during previous editions the audience could see „Angels in America”, „Nancy. Interview”, „Warsaw Cabaret” („Kabaret warszawski”) and „Courtney Love”. „Winter Trip” takes on a very difficult subject, the spectators’ concentration is then very inspirational.

We presented the play in untypical conditions, having no comfort of our small stage we use in Bydgoszcz and in Łódź. During the festival one of our actors fell ill and had to be hospitalized so the performances were up in the air. But everything went well and we presented all the performances according to the plan thanks to determination of our director Ewa Pilawska and to great help of Karolina Ochab who is the director of Nowy Theatre in Warsaw and at the same time the curator of the „Theatre” project in the Open’er Festival. We presented „Winter Trip” thanks to the professionalism of the actors and the organizers and because we wanted to show respect to the audience.

Michał Czachor who went to hospital was substituted by his fellow actors. The show did not lose anything because of his absence – on the contrary it benefited of it according to the opinion of those who had seen the play before. The Festival’s artistic management acknowledged „Winter Trip” to be the best spectacle of 2013; many people said it was the most remarkable show prepared by Maja Kleczewska.

We would like to say our great „thank you” to everybody who contributed to the success at the Open’er Festival: Jakub Firewicz, Beta Ziejka, Karolina Adamczyk-Oleszczuk, Małgorzata Witkowska, Julia Wyszyńska, Michał Jarmicki, Mateusz Łasowski, Piotr Stramowski and to Anna Dolińska, Marcin Stasiak, Krzysztof Maciejewski, Zuzanna Zajdel, Łukasz Broniewski, Patryk Superson, Halina Madany, Maciej Szymborski and Hanna Gruszczyńska.

We were leaving Gdynia in the full confidence that we took part in a very important event.
