Idea

The idea to produce this original project in Powszechny Theatre was to create a possibility for the modern Polish comedy to develop in its broad spectrum and to work out a modern language of the genre. The project has been treated in a complex way: there are competitions for the comedy texts, workshop confrontations of different playwriting techniques, promotion of modern look at the genre, presentations of the confrontations through previews of the comedy texts that had been chosen by authorities in the field.

What we care about is to inspire and motivate the theatre environment (professional and amateur creators) to work out a language of modern Polish comedy. That is why we have invited theatre professionals (directors, set designers, playwrights, theatrical experts, critics) and novice, young and talented creators (directors, playwrights) to co-operate in the Centre.

In the Centre we confront the latest comedy texts with modern theatre aesthetics.
