„Last Witnesses” – first preview on 24 July!

We invite you to Powszechny Theatre on 24 July to see the first preview of „Last Witnesses” – a spectacle produced by our actor Arkadiusz Wójcik together with a group of seniors „We Are Present”. It is a project referring to the idea of „Theatre Close to People”. The tickets (for a symbolic 1 zloty) are available only in the theatre box office.

„Last Witnesses” is a story about past and modern Europe where individual stories interweave with important events. The stories that are deeply hidden, very intimate, that we cannot get out of our minds. It is a story of people who still cannot forget WWII.

- While working on the spectacle we wondered if it was possible to compare present events with things that had happened in WWII. We compared our Polish experiences and memories with what people in different parts of the world went through. Discrimination, racism, persecution, xenophobia – all are present nowadays. In our spectacle we try to answer the questions „Has not history taught us anything? Have not we drawn any conclusions?” – Arkadiusz Wójcik says.

„Last Witnesses” is an attempt to resurrect memories of traumatic war events and to bring back ghosts from the past. Pieces of memories, incomplete information, emotions that accompanied past events – all of them unexpectedly become a disturbing description of what we live trough in a present world.
