37th preview of Reading Theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind

On Wednesday, April 9, Powszechny Theatre presented 37th preview of Reading Theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind – David Almond’s My Dad’s a Birdman, directed by Ewa Pilawska.

The play tells the story of Lizzie and her dad – since her mother’s death, Lizzie’s father has had trouble coping with life. He becomes obsessed with entering the Great Human Bird Competition. His behaviour is amusing and at the same time alarming. He is making strange things to become a crow in order to fly across the Tyne on the wings he has made out of feathers. Mad? Yes, no doubt about it. But there may be a method in the madness. Almond’s play is a warm and funny story not about important goal we have in our lives but about our loved ones we would like to have with us while pursuing this goal. About people who believe in us as much as we believe in our goal. The story about love and the power of dreams which do not necessarily have to be inaccesible but may become a source of everyday strength, optimism and energy.

After the show Ms Teresa Wrzesińska – president of the Łódź branch of Polish Union of the Blind – thanked the actors, creators and director Ewa Pilawska for producing another play for people with poor eyesight and blind.

Thank you for your presence and we invite you to the next preview in May.
