“Ony” – the 48th preview of the Reading theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind

„Ony” is a play by Marta Guśniowska. We presented it this afternoon on our Small Stage as a part of our project of the Reading theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind. The play as usual was directed by Ewa Pilawska on a voluntary basis. The preview got a big and long applause.

“Ony” is a play for young people who start to say farewell to their childhood – they start to understand the world and live in it more consciously to become grown-ups. That is why today the audience consisted of young people. But at the same time it is a play for older people who remember the moment they started to become grown-ups. Because this is a universal play.

An interesting, multilevel text by Marta Gnuśniowska is a fairy tale a rebours. It is a universal story about modern world, about our struggles and fears and monsters that live within us. After his mother's death main character sets for a journey in order to find his father he had never known. The way he travels in an oneiric and fairy-tale scenery becomes a metaphor for maturation. During his journey Ony meets many fairy-tale characters, wins the Princess's heart, experiences many amazing adventures. In the end he achieves peace. Or, perhaps, he becomes grown-up?

After the spectacle Teresa Wrzesińska Teresa Wrzesińska, deputy chairman of the Łódź branch of Polish Union of the Blind thanked for the preview and for the whole year of artistic experiences during which we presented a couple of previews specially prepared for people with poor eyesight and blind.

We also thank you for your presence – today and during all previous spectacles. We invite you to our next previews.
