Preview of „Carbon Monoxide”

On Saturday, 28 June, on the Small Stage we saw a preview of the tale „Carbon Monoxide”.

Monodrama "Carbon Monoxide" is a collage of monologues there were collected and written down by Aleksandra Listwan. It is inspired by the actress’s meetings with women who, at first glance (according to common social criteria), can be described as „strange”, to say the least.

A clash of different stories, characters, their experiences and thoughts creates a picture of modern world with its contradictory standards, demands increased to the limits and tensions it creates. What is normal and what is not? What does culture expect of us – what does it give us and what does it impose on us as far as identity, gender, role, social function, appearance and sexuality are concerned? Is it possible to fulfill all the expectations? Is it possible that everyone may be excluded just like the monologues’ authors were while being treated as „abnormal”, „marginal”, „distorted”? Is exclusion the exception that proves the rule or a cultural standard? „Carbon Monoxide” is trying to answer these questions.

After the show director Ewa Pilawska thanked the creators of the performance. She also thanked the whole team of Powszechny Theatre for an intensive season during which we gave thirteen previews (six previews of Reading Theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind included).

But this is not the end of the season. We invite you to our Theatre till the middle of July.
