„Promise at Dawn”

While waiting for the last preview of the season – “Carbon Monoxide” – today we produced “Promise ad Dawn” (“La Promesse de l'aube”), the 39th preview of Reading Theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind. It was presented in our Theatre foyer and directed by Ewa Pilawska who has always directed plays in the project on a voluntary basis.

This is an excellent autobiographic book by Romain Gary – a French novelist, script writer, film director and diplomat. It is said to be the most beautiful tribute to a mother. The novel was adapted to stage by Ewa Wojtyszko and Maciej Wojtyszko. “Promise at Dawn” is a warm story for two actors telling about the love of a mother and her only child. She devoted her whole life to him in order he could become somebody, a great man. He proves with his whole life that she was right. Romain Gary tells a subtle story about true emotions and unusual relations between people. It is mainly a story about an unusual friendship and love – it explains that when you fully accept a young man you give him strength for all his life and the strength allows him to find positive sides even in most difficult situations in his life.

After the show Ms Teresa Wrzesińska – president of the Łódź branch of Polish Union of the Blind – thanked the actors and creators for producing another play for people with poor eyesight and blind.

We also thank you for your presence and invite you to the following preview next season.
