Theatre ticket for 500 pennies

13 May marks the Public Theatre Day. On this day „Theatre ticket for 500 pennies” event starts, too. 98 theatres from 39 cities take part in this all-Poland action. Powszechny Theatre will also participate in the project. On 14 May we will present „No Dinner For Sinners” (tickets available 13 May, limited to 2 per one person).

The Public Theatre Day will be celebrated for the third time and Powszechny Theatre has taken part in it since the very beginning. The idea was born in 2015 as public theatre in Poland celebrated its 250th anniversary. The ticket for pennies action appeared to be one of the most important events and it proved to be a huge success. The houses of 100 Polish theatres were full – total audience amounted to almost 50 thousand spectators and among them were people who very seldom came to the theatre.

Why 500 pennies (5 zloties)? The number refers to all previews of contemporary plays last season. To be precise the number should have „+” because the exact number of the plays was 530. No doubt the statistics is impressive!

The project „Theatre tickets for 500 pennies” is an all-Poland event which is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and coordinated by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute.
