Machulski national treasure?
On Saturday 27 June 2026 we invited our viewers and our guests to the discussion panel „Machulski national treasure? The Juliusz Machulski comedy phenomenon”; it accompanied the first presentation of „The Match” („Meczycho”), the latest play by Juliusz Machulski, written especially for Powszechny Theatre in Łódź.
The discussion was moderated by Wojciech Majcherek – theatrologist, theatre critic, lecturer at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw and a long-time programme director of Polish Television Theatre.
The list of panelists included:
- Jacek Cieślak – head of culture department of „Rzeczpospolita” daily, film and theatre critic, author of interviews with the most prominent creators of Polish culture, writer;
- Tomasz Domagała – theatre critic, theatrologist, columnist and blogger „DOMAGAŁAsięKULTURY”, commentator on the most important phenomena of contemporary theatre
- Dariusz Pawłowski – journalist aand theatre critic, a long-time head of culture department of „Dziennik Łódzki” daily, author of reviews and commentaries devoted to theatrical life in Łódź and the region;
- Ewa Pilawska – the Powszechny Theatre director, creator of Polish Comedy Centre, „Comedywriting” competition and International Festival of Plays Pleasant And Unpleasant, president of Polish Theatres Union.
- Jacek Wakar – theatrologist, theatre critic, columnist, author of books on theatre and actors, head of culture department of Polish Press Agency PAP, co-editor of „Nowy Tygodnik Kulturalny”;
- Janusz Wróblewski – film and theatre critic, a long-time journalist of „Polityka” weekly, author of numerous publications on Polish cinema and theatre.

- The 32nd International Festival of Plays Pleasant And Unpleasant was held under honorary patronage of Ms Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, and Ms Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of the City of Łódź.
- The 32nd eddition of the Festival was co-financed by the City of Łódź and the Minister of Culture And National Heritage (programme „Theatre 2026”).
- EXPO-Łódź was the strategic partner of the 32nd Festival.
