Thesaurus lists as many as one hundred and sixty-two synonyms of the word “shame”, among others: scandal, sorrow, dishonour, humiliation, discredit, shock, disgrace, embarrassment. The heroes of Marek Modzelewski’s latest play “Shame” will face all those feelings. But not only them. The spectator will also meet and face those feelings and may recognize himself as in a mirror. Because the play is happening here and now and the characters live among us. One can easily laugh at them and judge them severely. But it is worth remembering: “let him who is without sin cast the first stone”.
