Theatre”

What does „Theatre” mean? It is so obvious that we have stopped to think of it.

On one hand – a mysterious and metaphysical space, on the other – an institution. Two worlds. One could think – two incompatible volumes.

Everything can be a theatre so „Theatre” loses its responsibility for what it is and can be. Is it still an isolated island? An escape? Or is it only a mirror that reflects images that we know from reality? Theatre has always been an illusion. But does illusion sometimes turn to be a swindle? Has not Theatre turned to be its most important enemy?

Do Theatre people still want it to be a clear space for conversation? Should Theatre choose sides with a clear-cut gesture? Take a stand? Fuel emotions? Give answers instead of asking questions?

Do we believe in open and various Theatre? Do we still see spectators from the stage?

We are not sure what Theatre is but we see how easily it adapts solutions and mechanism it has been criticizing. So is it in crisis? Can people of metaphysical Theatre do without institutional theatre?

What does „courage” in a modern Theatre mean? Is it marked out by every-day reality or by spectacular events?
