Bakersfield Mist
Do you dream of changing your life?
Maude Gutman, an unemployed bartender living in a trailer park in the California desert, believes a painting she bought in a thrift store for a few dollars is really an undiscovered Jackson Pollock. So she asks world-class art expert Lionel Percy to fly over from New York to her trailer home in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting. Is it really a masterpiece worth millions? May it be a miracle that will change her life? The meeting of the two is like a collision of two different worlds. They differ in everything – from social status to education to their attitude towards reality. But soon their meeting appears to be a reunion of two lonely, aggrieved people.
Inspired by true events, this hilarious comedy-drama by Stephen Sachs is about the meaning of art and about how difficult it is to define the truth.
