The plot of the play directed by Wojciech Malajkat is set in a deteriorated estate of the Lekcicki family. Head of the family, Tomasz Lekcicki – a squanderer, gallant, fan of metaphysics and a self-taught inventor – lives there with his sister poetess and daughter Marysia who seems to be the only matter-of-fact type of person in the whole family. She tries to do her best to save the family estate. By accident a Soviet official and a mysterious foreigner appear in the Lekcicki estate at the same time.
„Family” is one of three comedies written by Antoni Słonimski. It is a satirical vision of Poland, sharp-tounged with bitter jokes – so characteristic of the Skamander’s author. Though written in 1933 it appears to be very up-to-date nowadays.
