- „Green Glade” by Paweł Mossakowski won 7th edition of „Comedywriting” – national competition for writing a modern Polish comedy. I am glad we will see it on the stage; it is the second presentation of an awarded text from „Comedywriting” this season – in November we presented „VHS” by Marin Małczewski – Ewa Pilawska, director of Powszechny Theatre in Łódź, says.

- It is a continuation of a conversation about us, the Poles. In 2008 we presented „The Reshuffle” by Paweł Mossakowski (it was also awarded in „Comedywriting”). The author looked at a misalliance of two families: an intelligent one and a nouveau riche one. „Green Glade” is the look at modern reality – what has changed? – Ewa Pilawska wonders.

The comedy by Mossakowski brilliantly describes the so-called modern elite. Heniek is a successful developer. It is an open secret that his success is not caused by his building skills or a nose for business but by the fact that he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Corruption, lies, bullying – these are some of his methods. A relentless businessman is even ready to „sell” his own family in order to have another investment developed.

- „Green Glade” is a story about generation conflict, about various visions of Poland as well as modern elites – don’t we forget, in the pursuit of money, about important things? The protagonists form a typical Polish family: husband moneymaker, wife with her conservative views and their obedient daughter. Then an unanounced visit of a nephew turns their apparently well-organized world upside down and family secrets come out… - director Paweł Szkotak says.

- „Green Glade” by Paweł Mossakowski is – according to the subhead given by the author – a criminal comedy, a genre which sporadically appears on Polish stages. It says a lot about the author’s idea of playing with conventions. On the one hand we have quite a realistic and criminal narrative, a plot with many twists, interesting psychological portraits of the characters. On the other hand the play’s reality is a little bit surreal – it reaches to the world of cartoons which gives a lot of possibilites to the staging imagination. In the spectacle we combine this reality with live songs – the director says.
