A French comedy by Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron, directed by Jerzy Hutek and Arkadiusz Wójcik.

The play tells a story of two women, Claude and Margot. - The play by Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron shows it is never too late to fight for yourself. There is no way of giving up. We cannot just surrender and submit completely to others. Such way leads to a horrible loneliness – Ewa Pilawska, the Powszechny Theatre director, says. – I intentionally decided that the play would be directed by a two-generation duo – Jerzy Hutek, a mature director and Arkadiusz Wójcik, a young creator. I look forward to seeing their intergenerational view of „The Fugitives”.

– One of the protagonists runs away from a residential home where she was put against her will. The other character runs away from her family home on the day of her daughter’s eighteenth birthday. The meet by chance and then their mutual journey begins and they have to learn each other – director Jerzy Hutek says.

- The play shows how a intergenerational relation is building up, how we can learn from each other, change our approach, reconsider our views and attitudes. It is crucial that the characters have different past and experiences. Things which apparently separate them, start to make them closer and closer to each other and teach them freedom – Arkadiusz Wójcik says.

- „The Fugitives” are a perfect picture of a certain social scheme according to which women, as mothers and wives, should devote themselves completely, forget about their dreams, place themselves at the very end of value hierarchy. And where is the freedom of being yourself? Fortunately it is the scheme that has been deconstructing – Ewa Pilawska says.

- It is also a play about great need of friendship and of relationship building with another man. It is a reflective spectacle, a comedy with some very serious elements – Jerzy Hutek adds.
