The Spitting Image of My Son-In-Law

The first meeting of a girl’s parents with her bridegroom-to-be is always a very emotional moment. But the emotions rise when the celebration is accompanied by enexpected events, professional problems and a visit on unwelcome guests. How will the evening end? What will the characters get to know about themselves? How will the future son-in-law behave in this sursprising situation?

„The Spitting Image of My Son-In-Law” is a modern Polish comedy about love which is the most important part of our life. Even if we do not think of it every day, even if we do not realize it, everybody needs it, no matter our age, no matter our experiences. We can either follow our heart like a teenager and be blind or approach it with some distance and reserve, but sooner or later we come to a conclusion that love is someting more than just an euphoric frenzy of hormones.     

The play was awarded in the 5th edition of Comedywriting – a competition for writing the best comedy which is organized by Polish Comedy Centre in Powszechny Theatre.  

The spectacle takes part in 26. edition of National Competition for Presenting a Modern Polish Drama. The aim of the competition is to find and award the most interesting productions of Polish theatres, to suport Polish dramaturgy and to popularize Polish modern drama. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage together with the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute. In the first stage of the competition the spectacles that take part in it are judged by the artistic committee: Jan Karow, Katarzyna Lemańska, Andrzej Lis, Kamila Łapicka, Hubert Michalak, Michał Mizera, Jacek Sieradzki (chairman).
