Two actors’ awards for „The Biedermanns” by Powszechny Theatre at Modern Drama Festival „Rzeczywistość Przedstawiona”

More awards for „The Biedermanns” produced by Powszechny Theatre in Łódź! After the award at the 31st National Competition for the Production of Polish Contemporary Drama Play which we received in June, we have just got two more prizes. Karolina Łukaszewicz was awarded for her role of Luiza Biedermann and Arkadiusz Wójcik was awarded for his role as Bruno Biedermann at the 23rd Modern Drama Festival „Rzeczywistość Przedstawiona” („Reality Depicted”) in Zabrze. The „Biedermanns” was also awarded by the Young Jury for „creating a unique climate  and suspenseful atmosphere”.

- I am very glad we could play „The Biedermanns” at this year’s edition of the festival and present you with the Łódź and at the same time with very universal story. Nowadays every story about a man, empathy, about something we could call community ethos – is a mandatory lesson – Ewa Pilawska, the Powszechny Theatre director, says.

The festival closed on 25 October, 2025. The jury, consisting of  Dorota Buchwald, Dominika Ostałowska and Łukasz Drewniak, emphasized that „for years the Zabrze festival has been a significant way of looking at Polish reality. Thanks to the festival we can have unexpected and productive confrontations of various aestethics, styles of writing and ways of playing. (…) For years the festival and the theatre have created an interconnected system, the festival being an opportunity for the theatre to confront with spectacles from all over Poland and the theatre being a key organizational, emotional and identity support for the festival”.

- My deepest thanks go the whole team working on the presentation, to Powszechny Theatre in Łódź, to Nowy Theatre in Zabrze for its cooperation, to Adam Orzechowski for accepting my offer of directing another spectacle with a Łódź plot, to Anna Wakulik for her search and openness, to everybody working on the production. I want to thank director Beata Dąbrowiecka for the invitation – Ewa Pilawska adds.
