Winners of the 31st Festival: „Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy”, Agnieszka Przepiórska and Wojciech Grudziński
Ladies and Gentlemen,
the competition part of the 31st International Festival of Plays Pleasant And Upleasant has just come to an end. We also participated in the Master Presentation of „Hamlet” directed by Jan Englert who proved that honest, engaged and important theatre is always the winner.
Below you can find the results of the Audience Plebiscite – verdict of the viewers, the only jury of the Festival.
I congratulate and thank Agnieszka Przepiórska for her role evoking extreme emotions. I congratulate Wojciech Grudziński for his triggering theatre. I congratulate and thank Wybrzeże Theatre for their spectacle „Yvonne, Pricess of Burgundy” – a modern interpretation of Gombrowicz.
I thank all the creators and theatres we have met at this edition of the Festival so far. I thank Józef Robakowski for accepting our invitation to create a festival poster, the poster which in an unusual and even visionary way has corresponded with the spectacles and subjects. I thank my colleagues from Powszechny Theatre in Łódź as well as Aneta Kyzioł, Jacek Cieślak and Jacek Wakar who moderated meetings with the spectacles’ creators.
But first of all I thank all of you for your confidence and the courage of taking artistic risk which happened in this edition of the festival. I wanted all of us to meet important literature and diverse theatre, sometimes controversial and touching taboo subject, not always safe and comfortable. We have experienced various theatre aesthetics and art which use various languages. Thank you for taking mutual risk of taking part in spectacles which were presented only within few hours after they had premiered. Many times I have heard that the Festival has a marvellous audience. I have a feeling that together – in the theatre – we can do everything.
It is great joy to face important and seeking theatre. There are two Master Presentations ahead as well as discussion on „Community?” and Maja Kleczewska. See you at the Theatre!
