New Year’s Eve with cult comedies

A cult comedy “Shear Madness” on our Big Stage and a special show with the guest appearance of famous maid Nadia; on our Small Stage “The Spitting Image of My Son-In-Law” – a spectacle for the unemployed; awards, catering and a New Year toast. This is going to be an exceptional New Year’s Eve in Powszechny Theatre! 

A night of surprises! The spectators will take part in an exceptional event, organized especially for the occasion. The night will start at 8 p.m. on our Big Stage with “Shear Madness” – the second part of the show will be prepared by our famous maid Nadia. The show will be presented only once – on that very night!

– This year our spectators will have the opportunity to spend that special night with their favourites. “Shear Madness” has been present on our Big Stage for 20 years. The jubilee reminds us about the artistic risk we took – it was here in Powszechny Theatre in Łódź when the play had premiered before becoming a hit of many Polish theatres. The night will continue with the show of Nadia – a hero of the Powszechny Theatre mini-series. The character of Nadia has been inspired by best comedies with such stars as Wojciech Pokora, Eugeniusz Bodo, Dustin Hoffmann and Robin Williams. It means with come back to the beginning of theatre when women roles were played by men – says Ewa Pilawska, the Powszechny Theatre director.

At 4 p.m. on or Small Stage the latest comedy – “The Spitting Image of My Son-In-Law” by Krzysztof Kędziora, directed by Paweł Szkotak. The text of the play was awarded in the “Comedywriting” – a competition for writing the best comedy organized by Polish Comedy Centre which has been active in Powszechny Theatre. This will be the spectacle for the unemployed – it has been an original project realized in our Theatre for years. The spectators who lost their jobs can buy tickets for the New Year’s Eve show for a symbolic one zloty.

After the shows there will be nice surprises for our guests, awards, catering and a mutual New Year toast.

Tickets for the night are available online, in our box-office and in the ticket machine in Galeria Łódzka. Tickets for the Big Stage are 220 and 190 zloties each, tickets for the spectacle for the unemployed are one zloty each.
