Six-hundredth anniversary medals for Powszechny Theatre in Łódź

On 18 December, 2023, Hanna Zdanowska, the Mayor of the City of Łódź, awarded the following members of Powszechny Theatre in Łódź with the six-hundredth anniversary medals:

  • Ewa Pilawska, director of Powszechny Theatre in Łódź, the creator and artistic director of International Festival of Plays Pleasant and Unpleasant, the creator of Polish Comedy Centre and the „Child In a Situation” project; Ms Pilawska is also the president of the Union of Polish Theatres. As magazine „F5” once wrote, „thanks to Ewa Pilawska Łódź becomes a better placed to live in”.
  • Małgorzata Urzędowska, stage manager with 40 years of experience. She has been working in Powszechny Theatre since 1996. It is her experience, knowledge and professionalism which make her ready to found a school for stage managers where young generations could learn the profession’s ethos.
  • Andrzej Otomański (he was awarded the medal in November) who has been working in Powszechny Theatre since 1992. He is an acoustician responsible for the sound during our spectacles, for multimedia and for technical matters connected with the exploitation of the spectacles.

We are very proud and give our sincere congratulations! It is a great honour to be among such distinguished pesons as, among others, Jerzy Czubak (Amcor president and art patron), Professor Wiesław Puś (oustanding historian, former rector of the University of Łódź), Professor Włodzimierz Nykiel (lawyer, former rector of the University of Łódź), Cezary Bodzianowski (artist and performer) and Tatiana Okupnik (singer).

As Ewa Pilawska emphasized, the medal for her is the distinction for the whole team of Powszechny Theatre in Łódź which has been working for Łódź and its inhabitants for years.
