Standing ovation at „The Family” press premiere
On Saturday, 18 December, 2021, we hold the press premiere of “The Family” – for the first time live on our Big Stage. The spectacle, written by Antoni Słonimski and directed by Wojciech Malajkat, was given a standing ovation.
“The Family” has been with us for several months. The rehearsals took place during the pandemic lockdown, and the first preview was presented only on-line because the theatres were closed. Then there was a TV preview and our spectacles were watched almost on all continents. “The Family” gave us a feeling of “normality” during most difficult pandemic times. We waited for the stage presentation and we were very happy it was possible to meet our audience yesterday – to see and hear your first reactions, opinions, critical reviews. The presentation proves that the play, written by Antoni Słonimski in 1933, has been universal and very up-to-date.
After the show the Powszechny Theatre director Ewa Pilawska thanked its creators and gave them – as well as our spectators – Christmas and New Year wishes. She wished health, courage, empathy, mutual attention and good to all of us. Then we had the pleasure of taking mutual photo with our audience. Due to COVID restrictions there was no usual party after the show – instead, we served refreshments on a take-away basis. Thank you for the night! See you soon!
