A most recent play by Yasmina Reza, one of the most popular French drama playwrights in the world (along with Érik-Emmanuel Schmitt).

God of Carnage is a masterfully constructed story about – on the surface – a harmless meeting of two marriages whose sons got into a fight. This confrontation turns out into an open conflict which reveals hypocrisy of the characters and exposes their real nature. It leads to an unexpected finale. The play was regarded by the critics as the best text by the author. Since it was published in 2007, it has been staged many times, among others in Théâtre Antonie in Paris, Schauspielhaus in Zurich, Berliner Ensemble, West End and Broadway. The play also received many prestigious awards including Tony Award for Best Play and Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2009.

Roman Polański directed a film Carnage based on the text by Yasmina Reza.
