MISSION. ODYSSEY

Because of Mars One mission aiming to establish in 2022 the first extraterrestrial colony on Mars, in our show we would like to examine the motifs and consequences of this mission for a single human being, a hypothetical participant of the mission, as well as for the entire human kind.

Once the decision of the flight is made, the flight with no return, you open a gate to something, you enter a brand new world. A world of radical decisions. A world in which existing order is disturbed. There is only a dream, the current identity, and the road to realize that dream. And radical decisions in the middle of it.

It is a world without beginnings and with no ends. It is only a reality of „life and death”. „The Earth and Mars”. A world of two states. The Earth is a state of life. Mars is a state of death. All Participants will die there. They know that and they agree to it. They make a decision on how they will die. The Earth – here we are being shaped. Here we grow up to make radical decisions. Here we take roots in the Earth, we get accustomed to it, with all the consequences. But something takes root in us from the Earth as well. We take roots and something takes root in us. And then we make a radical decision. We leave something behind, we give something up. We fly – to create from the beginning, in a better and different way. 

The space of the stage is the space of radical decisions. The space between Mars and the Earth. Even time is suspended here – and the play is flowing with the rhythm of these decisions. The scenes are relating to one another, they are creating a story so far as the characters are creating it. The play itself, however, is subordinated only to one rhythm: a rhythm of radical decisions… The decision (by any of the Participants) creates a brand new world. He enters this world along with the others. It is a new world – a new Earth, a new planet, a new experiment. The narrative sequence of questions about the meaning and the sense is created by the audience, while the play itself is interested only in the fact of creating the new world and the denial of the previous one.

Radical decision as something that can happen to anyone and every day – but usually it does not happen. A decision that changes everything.

It is a great opportunity to ask questions about how we live, what we leave behind and where we are going to. Is there a God? Is he achievable? Can he be a sufficient justification for our existence?
