During WWII Łódź was not destroyed. The city not far away from Warsaw became then Poland’s temporary capital. It also became the capital of Polish movie industry and it held the title for many years. Altogether hundreds of films and TV series were made in Łódź. The scene of „Song Factory” is laid in Łódź. The play’s heroes – Leonard Buczkowski and Ludwik Starski – are looking for songs (both notes and lyrics) that were sung during the Nazi occupation because they are producing the first Polish post-WWII movie „Zakazane piosenki” („Forbidden songs”). In Powszechny Theatre you will see a comedy about love, history, film city of Łódź and recollections of Warsaw during the war.
