For the last six months Filip spends each lunch break with Alice in a hotel room. Finally it is not enough for her and she tries to persuade her lover to spend the weekend together. Filip would also like to spend more time with Alice but is afraid that his wife Laura can discover their love-affair. Then the problem appears how to hide their romance from both Laura and Paul, who is Filip’s best friend and at the same time… Alice’s husband. Give it up? Tell the truth? But, as one of the characters says, „if one day people stop lying each other there would be no couple on the Earth”.

Florian Zeller is one of the most interesting young French playwrights. In his play The Truth (La Vérité)he asks us if we are honest in love. Can we and do we speak of it frankly? Or do we just play putting on masks?
